Vacation to Myrtle Beach 3/11/2012 Day # 2

Dan got up at 6:00AM and I got up at 6:30AM. I made some coffee and started getting ready for the day. We have about a 6 hour drive until we reach our destination which is Myrtle Beach, SC. We left at 7:20AM and stopped at Mc Donalds and got breakfast. We ate and I started drinking my coffee and I will be darned if they didn't put sugar in it. So we stopped a few minutes later to get another cup. Now we are on our way. Once again beautiful scenery.

               We had another beautiful day of driving. Sunny and in the mid 60's.

We arrived in South Carolina at 11:03AM. Gosh it is so nice to see green and the trees are all getting leaves. The flower trees are all blossom's. I did notice that they were in bloom in North Carolina also, but more so in South.

The flowering trees and palm trees. We are getting closer to Myrtle Beach. I am so excited. Its been along couple of days riding and my bum is numb. It is worth it though.  I was hoping the whole way here that our hotel is as good as the reviews we read. Oh I forgot to mention that when we got in to South Carolina we were on highway 38 I believe and right along side the road was a chicken. I was really supprised to see that. Well we are just about to Myrtle Beach.

We arrived in Myrtle Beach at about 1:10PM and had to stop at Walmart to get some groceries. We decided that we would buy sandwich fixins and other snacks to have for our lunches. It will save on money and nothing like a fried bologne sandwich on the balcony watching the ocean waves. Right? After Walmart we headed for our hotel. Check in was not until 4 PM but sometimes they will let you check in early if the room is ready.

We arrived at our hotel at 2:04 PM and they were finishing our room. I told them don't bother with the bed because I brought my own mattress topper, sheets and quilt for the bed. So they let us check in and we got the very top floor. The 15th floor. We got a a queen suite. It has a bedroom with 2 queen beds, dresser, closet, tv, alarm clock and phone.

This is our little living room. It has a leather loveseat, chair, another dresser, tv, phone, dinning room table and chairs and a wall bed.

We have 1 indoor and a out door pool. 1 indoor and out door hot tub and a lazy river.

After we got unpacked and settled in we were hungry so we decided we would go to one of our favorite pizza places in Myrtle Beach. The Ultimate California Pizza. All the years we have been comming here we always find our way there. The have the best Pizza I have ever tasted. After eating we wanted to go check out our pools and the beach.

After walking on the beach we came up to the room and we go on our computer for a while and then I was wanting a sundae. We went up to Dairy Queen and I got a Hot fudge brownie sundae and Dan got a hot fudge sundae.

We came back to the room feeling fluffy after our sundae's and took our showers and watched the amazing race. It was kind of cool to sit on the balcony and we were both exausted.  End of Day 2. Day 3 to follow.

Vacation to Myrtle Beach 3/10/2012 Day #1

This is the first day of our vacation on our way to Myrtle Beach, SC. We got up and left the house at 5AM. Couldn't wait to get out of the snow and go where it is warm and sunny. We stopped at Bates Hamburgers at 8:30 AM and got 18 burgers. That is a breakfast of champs. For all that don't know what Bates burgers are you are truely missing out on the best burgers ever. Then we were back on the road. I should have started taking pics when we got into Ohio but I didn't. We got into West Virgina in the aftertoon and it was real warm. Never ran in to any rain or snow.

 It was sunny all day. We made a few stops for gas and get out and walk around. Gas prices were down compared to back

home which made it nice. $3.55 a gallon.

This is a view of the Mountains. The picture really does not do justice to what you really see. It is beautiful. I like to call it Gods country. We continued on as we had reservations in Hillsville, Va. This was place that we stopped for the night.

We made it to Hillsville at 6:30 PM. After checking in the room we went in and freshened up and went and got something to eat at Long John Silvers. Man was that great. We do not have one back home so I really enjoyed that. We went back to the room and got our showers and hit the hay about 9:00 PM. End of Day 1. Day 2 to follow.

 

Houghton lake camping trip

This is the campground where we stayed this weekend.

We got there on Friday afternoon and set up. Set up time

is getting a lot quicker everytime we go. Anyways we set

up and sat around and relaxed the rest of the night.

cool but great for camping. Saturday we got up and

had our coffee and just relaxed. The temps were about

28 degrees. We decided we would take a ride over to my

dads house for a little while.

Saturday. It was a beautiful day. Just a few clouds

and it was around 55 degrees.

We went home and got our showers and was relaxing and I

heard a horn blow. I looked out and it was my Dad and his wife

Brenda. They came to check out our little camper and campsite.

I was really suprised. They stayed about a hour and left. Dan and I

just sat and relaxed the rest of the night. The next day we woke up

around 6 am and was freezing our butts off. The propane ran out in

one of the tanks. We are getting a gauge for them darn tanks, all

done freezing my butt off. We packed up and was on the road by 10 am.

Well we got up and I made us my farm fresh eggs, bacon and toast. We sat around and had our coffee and just took in the beauty of the colors and the leaves falling. We hated to have to pack up and go but all good things come to a end. We packed up and went to the dump station to deposit our load. Lol. Then off we went on our way home. We could not have asked for more. It was just beautiful weather and a relaxing time there at the Cadillac woods campground. Well it is afternoon and to warm for a bonfire so we decided to go to see my Dad. Were there for a couple of hours. I just love my dad so much. He is the best. We left there and headed back for the campground. Dan had to stop and pee so I got out and took a picture of the ole country dirt road. It turned out nice. I also took some pictures of the energy wind mills. Them things are huge. We finally  got back and had a little bit to eat. Dan started a bonfire and mixed up a jack and coke and we sat back around the bonfire. We thought we would play alittle yahtzee. Well let me share something with you. We were playing yahtzee and my honey put the dice in his jack and coke by accident. He looked at me and we both cracked up. He has done this before not drinking though. But it was still funny. We started to get hungry so we got out our little bonfire sandwich makers and I mixed up pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni  in a bowl and we had pizza pockets. Mmmm good! We sat by the fire and just relaxed. Well it was now time to go in and get our showers. We just layed back and relaxed the rest of the night.

Well morning is here and we got up and had some coffee. It is already a nice day. We are having upper 70 degree weather in October. Indian summer I guess. I hate to see it go. We really didn't do much but play with our new smart phones that we got. Technology I tell you is something else these days. It is amazing. I took some pictures of our campground and the cabins in the morning. I really loved this little campground. All the leaves were falling and it was so beautiful. Our 2nd camping trip

Well this is our second camping trip with our new camper. We got off of work and Dan had the camper all hooked up by the time I got home. We had a little bit of stuff to pack. We got on the road and had to stop at a few places and then get a bite to eat. We arrived at our campground at around 6:30 P.m. We camped at Cadillac Woods. We got settled in and sat around and relaxed. We both were getting alittle hungry and didn't feel like cooking to much so we headed to cadillac and got us a bite to eat. I know crazy right? Well when your hungry your hungry. Lol. We got back to the campsite and took our showers and played a little yahtzee then some tv and time to hit the hay.
